I feel terrible because I had no idea! I have been a pretty regular customer for the past 8 years, but haven't really had time to stop in the past 4-5 months or so. I am seriously saddened by this news. This place had a lot of memories for me and my friends. What are you guys doing with the unsold inventory? I would've bought several of your movies had I known you were closing!
If your still selling, my email is smrobin@live.com. Again, so sorry I didn't have the chance to come in and say good-bye. :'( I will miss this place so much.
Dang! I was hoping The Movie Fan was totally invincible and would be able to survive the onslaught of increasingly bland on-line streaming services and fickle movie market forces. Bloomington-Normal had a jewel in The Fan and it will be sad to see it go. I had no clue this was coming (much like the customer above) until I caught Bill Flick's Pantagraph column about the closing a couple of days after the fact.
I wish Dave and all past and present Fan-atics well. Now I am less one cool place to stop at when passing through town. I couldn't be a regular customer for logistical reasons, but I've always appreciated the store.
I would also be interested to know if you still have inventory to sell, particularly if there are any videos with local ties that I could add to my library lest they disappear forever. Please let me know: cuconfidential@gmail.com

Thank you for the service you provided. You had an amazing selection of foreign films. Going to miss you.
I am so sad, I can't even... I used to hang out there when TMF was next to BoRics where my sister worked. I probably spent a couple hours there a week talking about movies with Dave and some of the other guys. Even though I was a kid, we had great discussions and it really fostered my love of cinema. I'll truly miss the place. Thanks for everything, Dave, and best of luck in your future endeavors.

Oh man, what unfortunate news! The Movie Fan introduced me to Wonder Showzen my freshman year, four years ago. (If you haven't seen or heard of that show and have an odd sense of humor, go check it out! It's fantastically fantastic.)
I recently graduated (not from ISU since I transferred out) from college and I still remember The Movie Fan! I hope all the employees of the store are finding their niches elsewhere.

I just found out today when I came to town and my heart sunk to my stomach
Is there any inventory left or anything that was put into storage? I would definitely be interested in buying some merchandise (signs, VHS, etc)

Thanks for all the great horror and cult titles
You introduced me to a lot and I will miss you dearly
